Social 20-1

You wrote your Unit 1 Final Exam at the beginning of class today. Your Chapter 5 Key Terms and Questions were due today. Make sure that you complete your Chapter 6 Key Terms and Questions this weekend, they are due on Monday, July 15th. We watched a few videos to cover the Interwar Years Period, including from the BBC 20th Century History series called "Make Germany Pay" and "Why Appeasement?". Please classify the arguments for and against appeasement from the Was Appeasement a Good Idea? activity in your study booklets. We also watched "The Fatal Attraction of Adolf Hitler". Please remember that your Chapter 5-6 Test is on Tuesday, July 16th, you can find the study guide here (scroll down to find it). You are also writing a Unit 2 WRA I on Monday.

IB Diploma students attended a play in the school's theatre with their English classes, whereas the Certificate students all met in Room 111 and we played a Cold War review game. Please remember that you have a Cold War Exam on Wednesday, please see the study guide here (scroll down to find it).

You watched an A & E Biography of Joseph Stalin today and completed a worksheet that went along with the documentary. You were also given some handouts on the Soviet Economy. Your Market and Mixed Economies Test is on Wednesday, please see the study guide here (scroll down to find it).

Social 20-1

I missed a bit of today's class today because I had a meeting downtown. You were given some notes on the rise to power of Adolf Hitler. You then watched a video from the BBC 20th Century History series called "Why Appeasement?" I also gave you a reading booklet with GCSE material called "Was Appeasement a Good Idea?" You'll get some class time to go over this activity. On Wednesday you have a Unit 2 WRA I, review the notes you have on how to write a three source analysis assignment.

We talked briefly about causes of WWII today before we watched a video from the BBC 20th Century History series called "Why Appeasement?" You also got the results back for your Market and Mixed Economy Exam. Please take some time this weekend to prepare for the debate that we're having on Tuesday. Remember that we agree with the following proposition: This house believes that government intervention in the economy is necessary.

 

Social 10-1

We finished watching "Blood Diamond" today. The "Blood Diamond" film study is due on Monday. Also on Monday we will be starting our Model UN conference on child soldiers. Please make sure that you have read the background guide that I have sent to you already. Please do some additional research this weekend. I will be taking in your research notes on Tuesday.

IB 20

The entire period was spent addressing the IA. We went through the PowerPoint presentation on the IA as well. You selected your IA topic as well today. I think most of the topics are very good and with a little guidance you should be able to find resources to help get you through the IA. You;re writing a Paper 2 on the Dictatorships unit on Tuesday.
