I collected your Chapter 10 Key Terms and Questions Booklets at the beginning of class today. You wrote your Chapter 9-10 Quiz today. You also wrote your Unit 2 In-Class Writing Assignment, this one was based on the Social 30-2 Written Response Assignment II in which you have three sources to interpret. I will try to mark these today, so that you will know the results tomorrow. I delivered a PowerPoint presentation called "Foundations of Economic Globalization" today as well, I have already sent this presentation to you, so please check your e-mail. Your Chapter 11 Key Terms and Question Booklet is due on Friday, July 16th. My expectation is that I have 100% completion of this booklet because you are getting an extra day to work on it. You have your Unit 2 Final Exam tomorrow, so please see the study guide below. On Friday, you have a Chapter 11 Quiz, please see the study guide for that quiz below. Please make a note of the upcoming important dates as well.

  • Unit 2 Final Exam is on Thursday, July 15th
  • Chapter 11 Key Terms and Questions Booklet is due on Friday, July 16th
  • Chapter 11 Quiz is on Friday, July 16th
  • Unit 3 In-Class Writing Assignment is on Friday, July 16th
  • Chapter 11-12 Quiz (key terms quiz) is on Monday, July 19th
  • Unit 3 Final Exam is on Thursday, July 22nd

The Unit 2 Final Exam is on Thursday, July 15th. This unit final is different than your Unit 1 Final Exam because it has a few different sections, it is not all multiple choice. There is a matching section with 15 key terms (with a 21 key term word bank) and a multiple choice section with 25 questions.

  • The World Bank (see pages 181, 183-185)
  • The IMF (see pages 182, 183-185)
  • NAFTA (see pages 188-189)
  • WTO (see pages 191-192)
  • the G8 (see pages 192-193)
  • make sure that you read "The Anti-Globalization Movement" section (pages 193-194) for more criticisms of these institutions and organizations

You wrote a quiz for "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee" which we watched yesterday at the beginning of today's class. I did a homework check on the Chapter 9 Key Terms and Questions at the beginning of class. I gave you some notes on the Chapter 10 material, including a handout on the Indian Act, and notes on the board about the Indian Act, assimilation, marginalization and the residential school system. We then watched the film "Where the Spirit Lives" and completed a film study on it. You also wrote a quiz on the film as well.

We also watched an episode of CBC News in Review about the Canadian government issuing an apology for the residential school system. Your Chapter 10 Booklets are due tomorrow. Please check the upcoming important dates below, and the study guide for the Unit 2 Final Exam.
